The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the services of a skilled and capable individual to work as an Assistant Director - Systemic Risk, Recovery and Resolution (Insurance) in our Financial Stability and Research Department. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Assistant Director - Systemic Risk, Recovery and Resolution (Insurance) will be responsible for contributing to all key analyses and advice on systemic risk, recovery, and resolution related to insurance.
This is a key role for the Authority and the post-holder will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Leading and coordinating alignment efforts between the Financial Stability and Research Department (FSRD) and the Supervision (Insurance) Department (ISD) with regard to insurance sector recovery planning matters
Acting as the subject matter expert by providing ISD with appropriate technical input and support for the review and analysis of recovery plans and resolution plans
Representing the Department in various college and crisis management forums
Contributing to the ongoing development, enhancement and coordination of the recovery and resolution planning framework for the insurance sector
Contributing to the BMA's programme of work on international financial markets monitoring and analysis, providing expert input in insurance sector matters
Contributing to the BMA's programme of work on systemic risk analysis and assessment related to the Bermuda-based insurance sector
Performing other related work and special projects associated with the Financial Stability and Research Department's remit as assigned
This position requires a proven technical and business background. Therefore, the post-holder must have:
A master's degree in law, business, finance or a relevant discipline or professional designation with relevant working experience in insurance
A minimum of ten (10) years' relevant experience, of which at least five (5) years should be at a senior level working within a regulated financial services business, a financial services regulator, a central bank or a management consultancy
Sound knowledge of international (re)insurers' operations
A demonstrated ability to synthesise, summarise and communicate information from a variety of sources, along with the ability to manage projects to completion in a timely manner; and
Strong analytical skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
