JOB TITLE:

Assistant Environmental, Safety & Compliance Manager

HOURS:

Based on a 5 out of 7-day rota, approx. 40 hours per week. Shifts primarily Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend work required.

JOB LOCATION:

Galgorm, with travel required to other Galgorm Collection properties in Belfast, Bangor, Limavady and Templepatrick.


PAY SCALE:

30,000 - 35,000 per annum





About the Role




Due to continued growth and development within the Safety & Compliance Department, we are recruiting for an Assistant Environmental, Safety & Compliance Manager. This role supports the Environmental, Safety & Compliance Manager and contributes to the strategic and operational delivery of health, safety, environmental, and data protection compliance across Galgorm Collection.


The successful candidate will also provide management support to the Kitchen Compliance Officer (KCO), ensuring alignment with food safety, allergen control, and kitchen statutory compliance across all outlets.


This is a developmental role with a structured 24-month training plan, designed to build competence and confidence in managing departmental responsibilities and supporting the company's commitment to sustainability and safety excellence.

Main Duties & Responsibilities




Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Developing and implementing a Health & Safety Strategy and KPIs. Leading near-miss reporting initiatives and accident/incident investigations. Managing RIDDOR reporting and liaising with external bodies (HSENI, Council). Chairing monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings. Delivering internal training (e.g. Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Induction). Overseeing Planned Preventative Maintenance compliance. Managing Health & Safety budgets and CAPEX planning. Acting as first point of contact for insurance claims. Reviewing and updating company inductions and H&S documentation. Conducting DSE, pregnancy risk assessments, and site inspections. Supporting sustainability initiatives and completing Carbon Literacy Training. Coordinating Fire Life Safety provisions and evacuation drills. Maintaining Green Tourism accreditation and environmental standards. Managing entertainment licence renewals. Supporting GDPR compliance, including DPIAs, audits, and staff training. Handling subject access requests and liaising with HR. Supervising Safety & Compliance office administrators. Providing operational oversight and support to the Kitchen Compliance Officer, including food safety investigations, allergen policy reviews, and kitchen audit processes.

Essential Criteria



Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory, health & safety or compliance-related role. NEBOSH General Certificate, Environmental Health qualification or equivalent . Strong administrative and organisational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Willingness to undertake further training (e.g. Health & Safety Level 5, Carbon Literacy, GDPR).

Desirable Criteria




Preference may be given to applicants who:

Hold or are working towards IOSH/CIEH membership or other professional relevant body Have experience in environmental compliance or sustainability. Are trained in GDPR, PCI DSS, or data protection auditing. Have experience managing budgets or leading teams. Have experience working with Environmental Health Officers or in food safety environments.
