Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week.

Rotherham Council's Facilities Services is seeking a dedicated and driven individual to join their team as a Town Centre Caretaker.

Based at Riverside House you will be part of a dynamic and successful central Caretaking Team covering the Borough.

The ideal candidate will possess a positive and pro-active attitude to work and will be comfortable working as part of a busy team and carrying out duties independently on their own initiative.

The role of a Caretaker involves a wide variety of weekly workload duties, these include the unlocking and locking of buildings within the Borough, Fire Alarm Testing, deliveries and general maintenance and minor repairs. The Caretaking service also plays a vital role in Council Emergency Planning within the Borough.

The successful candidate will be required to liaise with a range of internal and external customers, be customer focussed and possess excellent communication skills both verbally and written.

All duties will be carried out in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated legislation. Full and comprehensive training will be provided, and you will be fully supported in all aspects of the Caretaking role.

A free RMBC uniform and relevant PPE will be provided.

All Caretaking duties are carried out over a working shift/rota system Monday-Friday, and will include some daytime weekend working throughout the calendar year. Weekend working is paid in addition to the basic salary.

The weekday shift pattern is currently 06:00 -14:00 and 13:00 - 21:00 alternate weeks.

Overtime may also be available from time to time and is paid accordingly.

A competitive salary is offered for this position, along with generous holiday entitlement and membership in the RMBC pension scheme.

A current valid Driving Licence will be required as you will have access to RMBC vehicles for carrying out duties in the Borough. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory driving assessment.
