Children's Residential Support Worker

Location:

Rotherham (S60)

Salary details:

13.50 per hour/per year 25,272 and up to 33,152.6 with sleep ins. 65.00 per sleep-in (working approx. 10 sleep ins per month up to 7880.60 per year)

Full time:

36 Hours per week - Shifts & Sleep In's. Every other weekend working

The post holder will provide high quality care and interventions to children and young people in a residential children's homes, which will contribute to the protection, safeguarding and promotion of the education, health and well-being of children and young people.

Person Specification:



Excellent verbal, written and communication skills. IT skills necessary to undertake all administrative and reporting requirements. Including using a range of computer applications and ICT including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, internet and e-mail. -

Have a good understanding of child protection, safeguarding and vulnerable adults issues-

Practical knowledge of health and safety issues-

Able to positively engage with children and young people-

Understand and be able to apply a trauma informed approach to all your work with the children and young people. -

Knowledge of law and practice relating to looked after children and legal status applied to children with the Children's Act-

Experience in maintaining and creating good written electronic records of work. Demonstrate evidencing outcomes achieved with children and young people-

Experience of understanding the needs of children with a range of sensitive and personal care issues i.e. mental health problems, dementia, depression, challenging behaviours etc.-

Evidence of the equivalent level of knowledge gained through work experience.-

Job Specific Notes



The post holder will be required to work 'Out of Normal Office Hours' on a

shift rota basis to include working evenings, weekends and bank holidays

. The current rota includes working every other weekend on a six week rolling rota. Maximum hours per week is 43 and the minimum hours per week is 30. Staff average 36 hours per week over the six week rolling rota. This post involves working with children/ adults and therefore if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at an enhanced level. (Exempt from Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, 1974. All 'spent' convictions to be declared.).
