Children's Residential Support Worker (Waking Nights)

, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort and wellbeing of young people aged 10-17 with emotional and behavioural needs. Your calm, consistent presence overnight helps create a stable, nurturing environment where children can feel secure and supported.

Your Role as a Waking Nights Support Worker



As a

Night Support Worker

in our

children's residential home

, you will create a safe, stable and nurturing environment for young people throughout the night. Your role ensures the home remains calm and secure while supporting young people with empathy, consistency and care.

Key responsibilities include:



Monitoring the safety and wellbeing of young people through regular checks. Providing emotional reassurance and responding calmly to needs overnight. Managing and de-escalating incidents using trauma-informed approaches. Supporting safeguarding procedures and behaviour management plans. Completing accurate records, logs, and incident reports. Conducting room, fire, and perimeter checks for safety and security. Administering medication and maintaining MAR charts. Carrying out domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry and breakfast preparation. Supporting morning routines and shift handovers. Participating in training, reflective supervision and team development.

What We're Looking For



Minimum

1 year of experience

in

residential childcare

or a similar care setting (preferred).

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare

, or willingness to complete this qualification. A calm, observant and nurturing approach to supporting young people. Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills. Sound understanding of

safeguarding

and trauma-informed practice. Emotional resilience and reliability during night shifts.

Full UK driving licence

- desirable but not essential.
