Job Summary
Due to sustained growth the firm is seeking a senior CICA Litigation Lawyer / Caseworker. You will manage your own caseload of Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) claims, supporting clients from initial applications through to appeals and tribunal hearings.

Essential Skills & Experience
Significant experience managing CICA claims, ideally including domestic and sexual abuse cases.
Strong understanding of the CICA Scheme, eligibility rules, and evidential requirements.
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, persuasive submissions.
Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and meet strict timeframes.
Experience supporting vulnerable or traumatised clients.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Confident decision-making and case management skills.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
Manage a varied caseload of CICA claims from initial enquiry through to final award, including complex and high-value cases.

Provide specialist advice to clients regarding eligibility, evidence requirements, and the CICA Scheme 2012 (as amended).
Conduct sensitive client interviews using a trauma-informed approach.
Review and evaluate evidence including police reports, medical records, counselling notes and safeguarding documentation.
Draft and submit applications, internal reviews, and appeal submissions; prepare cases for tribunal where required.
Supervise or mentor junior caseworkers, supporting their development and quality of work.
Maintain accurate records, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and manage cases efficiently to meet deadlines.
Liaise with CICA officers, police, medical experts, support services, charities and external agencies.
Contribute to training, team meetings, service development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Promote a client-centred approach, ensuring all clients are treated with dignity, empathy and respect.
Desirable
Previous supervisory experience or willingness to develop into a mentoring role.
Experience preparing cases for tribunal or representing clients.
Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks or domestic abuse/sexual violence support services.
