We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Psychiatry of Old Age to provide specialized mental health services for elderly patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatric psychiatry, with expertise in managing complex mental health conditions prevalent among older adults. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient well-being through evidence-based practices. Responsibilities
Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments tailored to elderly patients, including those with cognitive impairments or developmental disabilities.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing psychopharmacology, psychotherapy (including psychodynamic therapy), and behavioral health interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy.
Manage inpatient and outpatient cases, providing crisis management and PTSD care as needed.
Coordinate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, including medical documentation and accurate record-keeping compliant with HIPAA regulations.
Utilize telehealth platforms for remote consultations when appropriate, ensuring seamless patient access to psychiatric services.
Engage in data collection and analysis to monitor treatment outcomes and improve clinical practices.
Stay current with medical terminology, diagnostic evaluation techniques, and advances in psychopharmacology relevant to geriatrics.
Participate in intake procedures, patient care planning, and follow-up assessments to optimize mental health outcomes for older adults.
Skills
Extensive experience in psychiatry with a focus on geriatrics or behavioral health in older populations.
Proficiency in psychiatric treatments including psychotherapy, psychodynamic therapy, addiction counseling, and crisis management.
Strong knowledge of medical documentation standards, medical records management, and medical terminology related to mental health care.
Experience working with diverse populations such as those with developmental disabilities or PTSD among the elderly.
Familiarity with telehealth platforms and delivering remote mental health services effectively.
Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations accurately.
Excellent communication skills for working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and best practices for maintaining confidentiality and security of medical records.
Post-residency experience in inpatient or outpatient settings is preferred; clinic experience is highly valued.
