Operational Resilience is a strategic priority for the FCA due to several drivers including, the volume of change and transformation being undertaken, resilience responsibilities under SMR and the increased threat profile and market responsibility.
The Crisis Management team is responsible for developing and maintaining the internal Crisis Management Framework, planning and tools, ensuring effective response to disruptive events.
Role responsibilities:Lead crisis response coordination during major incidents, ensuring swift action, clear communication, and timely documentation that empowers stakeholders to make informed decisions
Maintain and evolve crisis management plans, including Silver and Gold action plans, to ensure the organisation is always ready to respond effectively
Drive continuous improvement by producing insightful post-incident reports that capture root causes, lessons learned, and actionable recommendations
Orchestrate annual testing and exercises, from full-scale crisis simulations to targeted scenario drills, strengthening organisational resilience across critical services.
Curate and update scenario playbooks, aligning them with real-world operational risks to ensure preparedness for severe but plausible events
Enable confident decision-making by ensuring all crisis documentation, communications, and exercises are timely, relevant, and aligned with business priorities
Skills required:
Minimum:Prior experience in Crisis Management coordination.
Prior experience and knowledge of Operational Resilience and PS21-3 requirements
Prior experience and confidence to execute and coordinate Gold and Silver level Crisis Management discussions
Essential:Experience of working in the Financial Sector
Networking to build relationships, challenging and supporting colleagues in the development, delivery and evaluation of content
Stimulating new perspectives and innovative ideas to improve engagement with stakeholders
Ability to deliver difficult messages, uphold Policy standards and deal constructively and effectively with challenge
Strong communications, influencing and negotiation skills to work effectively with a wide range of senior stakeholders
Delivery focussed with ability to co-ordinate deliverables to prioritise work effectively
