Job Description

General administrative support for the Environment, Health & Safety Manager Main Responsibilities: Health & Safety

  • Maintaining and publishing health and safety information, posters, guides etc maintain EHS Intelex accident database; follow up accidents and near misses; liaise with colleagues to investigate serious incidents and if necessary reporting same to H&S Executive; maintain first aid requirements for all sites; reporting to and Secretary to Health & Safety Committee; carry out risk assessments; support the Environment, Health & Safety Manager in their responsibilities for health & safety.
  • Member of and Secretary to Environmental Committee; carry out internal Environmental Audits; maintain Duty of Care Manual and other records in support of ISO 14001:2004/2015 support Environment, Health & Safety Manager in their responsibilities for environmental issues.
  • Participation in Induction/Refresher programmes; organise/lead and record all EHS training including first aid, chemical spill, etc., ensuring sufficient numbers of staff are accredited/trained.
Other Duties
  • To act as a representative for the EHS Manager in her absence at meetings ensuring any directives are prior approved. To assist in any other reasonable tasks related to the Company's activities.
Specific Qualifications:
  • Good level of general education, particularly English Language /Grammar
  • Computing (Microsoft office)
  • Good organisational skills; good communicator; able to work with minimum supervision; good time management skills
  • Respect for confidentiality; self-motivated with ability to interact and develop relationships with colleagues and external contacts
  • Ideally have one or more of the following:
  • Health & Safety qualification/certification
  • Risk Assessment qualification /certification
  • Environmental qualification/certification
Previous Work Experience:
  • Experience in a previous administrative role; proven IT skills; accuracy and attention to detail
Specific Knowledge / Skills Competence:
  • Experience/knowledge of current Environmental and Health & Safety regulations, risk management, accident reporting procedures and environmental auditing is desirable but not essential as on the job training and development will be given.
  • Personal skills/attributes are: must be consistent, able to react to sudden adverse events in a professional manner.
Behavioural Competencies:
  • The successful candidate will be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent time management and attention to detail along with the ability to effectively communicate.
