We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Timber Window and Door Surveyor / Installation Team Manager to join our team. This dual role combines technical surveying with hands-on project and team management. You will be responsible for accurately surveying timber window and door projects, ensuring installations are delivered to the highest standards, and managing the installation teams from pre-site preparation through to customer handover.
This position is ideal for a professional with a strong background in bespoke timber joinery, fenestration, or high-end glazing who enjoys both technical precision and leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Surveying
Conduct detailed on-site surveys for timber windows and doors, ensuring precise measurements and specifications.
Assess site conditions, structural openings, and potential installation challenges.
Prepare comprehensive survey reports, including dimensions, materials, and hardware requirements.
Liaise with the design, manufacturing, and project management team to ensure all information is accurate before production.
Verify compliance with relevant building regulations and standards (e.g., Part L, Part Q, FENSA).
Installation Management
Manage and coordinate installation teams to deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines.
Develop and maintain installation schedules, ensuring smooth workflow from manufacture to completion.
Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, prepare RAMs and safety briefings.
Oversee workmanship quality, installation methods, and finishing standards.
Troubleshoot technical or site-related issues promptly and professionally.
Ensure installations are completed in line with company standards, customer expectations, and health and safety regulations.
Oversee remedials/warranty work and, at times, undertake this work.
Customer & Stakeholder Liaison
Act as a key point of contact for clients during the installation process.
Provide technical advice and updates to customers and the project management team.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and site teams.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Enforce safe working practices on all sites.
Ensure compliance with all relevant H&S regulations, RAMS documentation, and company policies.
Report and resolve any incidents or non-conformities.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
Proven experience surveying and managing installations.
Strong understanding of joinery manufacturing and installation processes.
Excellent knowledge of building construction and site practices.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proficiency in reading technical drawings and using digital measuring tools.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Experience with CAD software or digital surveying tools.
Knowledge of FENSA / Building Regs compliance.
CSCS / SMSTS / SSSTS certification.
Experience managing multiple installation teams.
