What you'll be doing
As a
General Operative Ganger
you will have the following accountabilities:
Health, Safety & Compliance
Embed Zero Harm culture and the 4 Golden Rules in all activities
Report all Close Calls, incidents, and Good Practices
Comply fully with statutory, company, and H&S requirements
Foster strong working relationships across teams
Technical & Operational Responsibilities
Perform diverse highway construction and maintenance tasks safely, efficiently, and to high standards
Meet quality standards, work programmes, and project requirements right first time
Recommend improvements and optimise plant, equipment, and material use
Service Delivery
Action all work instructions via handheld device
Support 24/7 emergency response and winter maintenance operations
Maximise profitability through efficient resource and productivity management
Customer Service & Representation
Deliver excellent customer service on site
Act as a professional ambassador for Balfour Beatty at all times
Who we're looking for
Essential Qualities

Essential Experience & Skills
Proven hands-on experience in footway construction, kerbing, block laying, slabbing, haunching, surfacing, concreting and finishing works
General civils and drainage installation/reinstatement
Road signs and temporary traffic management awareness
Safe use of small plant and tools; good plant awareness
Current Abrasive Wheels and Manual Handling certification (or willing to obtain)
Full UK driving licence
Basic computer literacy (digital timesheets, records, risk assessments)
