for their busy factory in Granville, Dungannon, with collaboration with our site in Redditch, England. This role may be suitable for someone starting out on their Health & Safety journey that is interested in building their knowledge, or an experienced H&S Officer looking for a new challenge.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborating with both employees and management to enforce H&S policy and provide guidance.
Reviewing and improving current processes ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 and other legislations.
Creating, promoting and maintaining a positive H&S culture across all business functions.
Assist HR with the management of the company training matrix to ensure all employees are trained and competent in their roles by identifying gaps and booking inhouse and third party training providers.
Support continuous improvement of policies, risk assessments, and policies.
Provide accurate and timely reports to all relevant parties.
Investigating any near misses /accidents and producing reports with recommendations.
Completion of all inhouse and 3rd party H&S audits, producing action plans and highlighting any perceived risks.
Complete weekly/monthly statutory H&S checks such as the weekly fire alarm test.
Produce and communicate safety alerts / toolbox talks and safe operational procedures.
Work collaboratively with Human Resources for the effective onboarding of new employees to include assisting with staff inductions.
Point of contact for third parties such as HSE, Environment agency, Mid Ulster Council.
Prioritising employee safety and wellbeing by co-ordinating annual and follow-up Health Surveillance.
Criteria:
To be considered for this position, the candidate ideally should have experience in a similar role and an engineering / manufacturing environment would be desirable.
NEBOSH certification in Occupational H&S as a minimum.
Experience of completing risk assessments, safe systems of work and audits.
IOSH membership is desirable.
Train the Trainer in Manual Handling and other areas is desirable.
Excellent organisation skills.
The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels.
The ability to work independently and use initiative.
Reports to: Operations Manager
Part Time with a degree of flexibility on days/times/hours per week.
