An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join the Complex Care team, working 22.5 hours per week, supporting adults with a learning disabilities and additional complex health needs. This support will mostly be required for working in a day service, however may require occasional night shifts in the person's home (if required).
The successful candidate will join the Complex Care team as a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker. The Complex Care team provides individualised intensive health care support to clients with a learning disability and additional long term complex health care needs in the community. You will be working within the day service and will be responsible for carrying out individual care plans including interventions to meet assessed need in a wide range of complex health conditions including epilepsy, gastrointestinal conditions, breathing difficulties and complex medication regimes.
Main duties of the job
Working a shift pattern during the hours of 08:30-16:30, Monday-Friday (though may require occasional night shift).
Work to provide care planned support to individuals, including a range of physical health interventions.Work under the guidance/ supervision of a registered Nurse, with additional guidance from the wider multidisciplinary team that is relevant for the individual (e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy etc).Obtain valid consent or working under best interests, and carrying out risk assessments/contributing to care plans.Be able to confidently use a range of communication strategies to support the individuals communication needs.Have a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work.Work in partnership with the individual, their carer, families and the wider healthcare team.Promote clinical effectiveness, safety and a good experience for the individual.Observe and make suggestions to improve a persons quality of life.
