Inclusion Health and Early Action Advice Worker



26 hours per week.

Salary based on 26 hours per week = 16,786 - 17,222 per annum

12-month fixed term contract

Based in Smethwick, Brushstrokes Community Project works with asylum seekers, refugees and new communities across Dudley, Sandwell and West Birmingham and has been providing Advice, ESOL, Practical Support, Health information and advocacy and community activities since 1999.

Brushstrokes is looking for an Inclusion Health and Early Action Advice Worker to join our team. Are you interested in assisting asylum seekers in accessing health and early action support following their arrival in the UK?

The Inclusion Health and Early Action Advice Worker role is predominantly an outreach role, based one day a week at a Birmingham contingency hotel, one day a week at a Birmingham community centre and the remainder of the hours based at Brushstrokes offices. You will have experience of working within the community in a health-based setting and experience working with vulnerable communities. You will have the capacity to assess needs and support engagement with new groups and activities that will be of benefit to individuals new to the UK.

You will be able to support a health support programme designed to promote equality, diversity and inclusion in the asylum seeker population, empowering and motivating individuals to eventually take control of their own health journey with confidence. You will be a keen and patient listener and ideally speak a common asylum seeker language. You will have good administrative skills and Microsoft Office competency.

You will be able to develop strong and effective relationships with other agencies for the benefit of the project and those using our service.
