We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our busy culinary team at Briery Wood Country House Hotel, Windermere. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience within the hospitality industry, particularly in food preparation, cooking, and restaurant service. Prior hospitality or hotel experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. The role is paid and suitable for those eager to develop their skills in a professional kitchen setting.

Responsibilities

Wash, clean, and sanitise dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to maintain hygiene standards. Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and assembling ingredients. Support the kitchen team during service periods by ensuring all items are ready for use and replenished as necessary. Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas throughout the shift. Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure recycling procedures are followed. Help with organisation of stock and supplies to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Follow health and safety regulations diligently to uphold a safe working environment.

Requirements

Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality (restaurant or hotel experience) is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and safety procedures. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary processes and hospitality services. A positive attitude and team-oriented approach are essential for success in this role.
