Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join our dynamic team in Lambeth. This pivotal role involves overseeing the management of allegations against professionals who work with children, ensuring the safety and welfare of vulnerable young people. As a LADO, you will work collaboratively with various agencies, including social services, education, and law enforcement, to investigate concerns and facilitate appropriate actions.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Receiving and managing allegations against individuals working with children.
Conducting initial assessments and inquiries to determine the appropriate course of action.
Providing guidance and support to professionals involved in the investigation process.
Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and local policies.
Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all cases.
Delivering training and awareness sessions to staff and partners on safeguarding issues.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A relevant social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
Registered with Social Work England.
Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding.
Strong analytical and investigative skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
A thorough understanding of legislation related to child welfare.
