Job Overview


We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Locum General Adult Psychiatry Consultant to provide expert psychiatric care within a dynamic healthcare setting. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient recovery and well-being through comprehensive mental health services, including inpatient and outpatient care, with a focus on diverse populations such as geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those experiencing trauma or addiction. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in psychiatric evaluation, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and crisis management, with experience in both hospital and clinic environments. This position emphasizes the importance of maintaining HIPAA compliance and accurate medical documentation to ensure high-quality patient care.

Duties



Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations for adult patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, psychotherapy (including psychodynamic therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy), and other evidence-based interventions. Manage acute psychiatric crises with effective crisis management strategies, ensuring patient safety and stabilization. Provide specialized care for patients with complex conditions such as PTSD, addiction issues, developmental disabilities, and geriatrics. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive behavioral health services. Document all patient interactions accurately within medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Engage in data collection and clinical documentation necessary for ongoing patient care and quality assurance. Participate in telehealth consultations when applicable, ensuring seamless delivery of mental health services remotely. Stay current with medical terminology, diagnostic criteria, and treatment modalities relevant to psychiatry. Assist with intake procedures for new patients and follow-up assessments to monitor progress.

Experience



Post-residency experience in psychiatry with a focus on general adult mental health is required; additional experience in pediatric psychiatry or geriatrics is advantageous. Proven experience working within hospital settings, outpatient clinics, or behavioral health facilities is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy modalities (including psychodynamic therapy), and diagnostic evaluation is essential. Experience working with diverse populations including children, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring PTSD care is highly desirable. Familiarity with medical records systems, medical documentation standards, and medical terminology is necessary. Prior telehealth experience is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed. Ability to manage crisis situations effectively while maintaining professionalism and compassion is critical for success in this role.
