Plant/Mechanical Team leader



Job Summary:



We are seeking a reliable and hands-on mechanical/plant fitter & yard operations supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our yard, ensure all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. This is a hybrid role mixing basic routine maintenance and repairs on heavy plant equipment and vehicles with the organisation and management of the equipment for deployment.

The role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanics who can supervise a team, parts inventory, organise logistics (preparation & movement of equipment).

Ability to manage and organise a team around work loads and schedules. You will be proactive, adaptive and have strong planning skills.

Hold regular meetings with operations to arrange workloads and plan the team and equipment around an ever changing schedule.

Key Responsibilities:



Manage the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the yard and work areas. Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of company equipment (e.g., pick-up trucks, trailers, generators, small & large plant/agriculture machines). Schedule and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to reduce equipment downtime. Going to site if the machinery breaks down or needs basic maintenance while out Maintain accurate records of service and repair history for all assets. Coordinate with outside suppliers for specialised repairs or part procurement when needed. Manage incoming and outgoing inventory, deliveries, and shipments. Arrange the yard/workshop/stores area and keep it tidy Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Assist with loading and unloading of materials when necessary. Support logistics and operations teams with equipment allocation and yard logistics. Mechanical Plant Experience is essential

Qualifications:



Proven experience as a fitter/mechanic, supervisor or in a similar role. Strong mechanical background; ability to diagnose and repair equipment. Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is a plus. Familiarity with maintaining heavy machinery and tools. Strong organisational and leadership skills. Ability to work independently and problem-solve under pressure. Team player with a can do attitude
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 35,000.00-42,000.00 per year
