What skills and experience do you need?
Previous work with or understanding of supporting individuals with complex needs, Trauma, behaviours of concern, preferably including;
Autism, mental health conditions and physical disabilities.
Ability to be compassionate and patient with a commitment to person-centred care and empowering individuals through Active Support.
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules, including covering shifts and traveling between locations. Additionally, being available for different working patterns including; evenings, weekends, sleep-ins and nights.
Have clear written and verbal communication technique, experience of liaising with professionals or other agencies, along with basic IT skills and numerical ability.
Up To date training around PBS and catheter care. Be willing to undertake required training (potentially off site and outside normal working hours).
Shift pattern;
Day shifts, Night shifts, and Sleep ins (8am-3pm, 3pm-10pm, 10pm-81m shifts)
Shift pattern is 3:1
Experience our Support Workers need:
Experience with learning disabilities or autism
Knowledge of trauma-informed care
Experience and understanding of the Mental Health Act and safeguarding laws
Knowledge of common mental health conditions
Familiarity with therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT, person-centered care)
Strong communication and listening skills
Ability to set professional boundaries
Accurate documentation and report writing
Conducting or contributing to risk assessments
Handling crisis intervention situations
Assisting with care planning and following support plans
Understanding medication awareness and side effects
Recognizing and reporting safeguarding concerns
Using de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behavior
Cultural awareness and sensitivity
