As a Pay & Reward Specialist you will play a critical role within the Reward Team, acting as a subject matter expert to support the delivery of exciting new projects to enhance our reward strategy and employee benefits offer. You'll lead the day-to-day job evaluation activities for a designated service area, supporting fairness and pay transparency. You will also take a lead role in supporting the development and implementation of Reward policies, processes, and system improvements.

This role is office based with a minimum of 2 days in Staffordshire Place 1 with the ability to home work on some days.
Main Responsibilities
You will:
Lead and moderate job evaluation processes to ensure equal pay across the Council.
Scrutinize and apply job evaluation scheme methodology, deputising at grading panels as required.
Develop corporate methodology for job design, including training, guidance, and toolkits.
Analyse external pay benchmarking and legislative changes to inform strategic decisions.
Advise on complex pay and reward projects, offering strategic options, risks and benefits.
Support and promote the development of a benefits strategy and lead relevant projects
Lead on the development of reward policies and procedures in line with legislation and compliance
Manage day-to-day reward activities including honorarium processes and policy compliance.
The Ideal Candidate
You'll require experience of leading projects within a pay and reward environment and ideally, an understanding of local government. You will also need to have detailed experience of undertaking job evaluation ideally using the HAY/and or NJC methodology to support our equal pay processes.
Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
CIPD qualification or equivalent.
Deep understanding of pay and reward legislation and policy.
Detailed experience in job evaluation, reward project management, and stakeholder collaboration.
Excellent analytical, communication, and IT skills.
Resilient, proactive, and passionate about delivering high-quality outcomes.
Able to work independently and manage competing priorities.
