Job Description

We're looking for a passionate and experienced pharmacy professional to take on the role of Training Programme Director for Post-registration Pharmacist Practice in the North East and Yorkshire (NEY). This is a key position within NHS England's NEY School of Pharmacy, where you'll help drive the development of high-quality post-registration education and training for pharmacists across the region.



You're a registered pharmacist with a foundation in education, training, or workforce development. You bring energy, insight, and a collaborative spirit - ready to lead, inspire, and make a lasting difference in the profession.



Building strong partnerships with education providers, employers, supervisors and learners to ensure effective, innovative, and continuously improving educational delivery. Providing oversight and quality assurance of training pathways that support pharmacists in delivering excellent patient care. Leading workforce development initiatives aligned with national priorities and tailored to local needs. Engaging with colleagues across other regions to share innovations, influence national consistency, and contribute to a unified vision for post-registration pharmacist development. Supporting and developing educational supervisors and leading regional pharmacy training networks to ensure high-quality supervision and cross-sector learning opportunities.

Earlier this year, the Government announced that NHS England will gradually merge with the Department of Health and Social Care, leading to full integration. The aim is to create a smaller, more strategic centre that reduces duplication and eliminates waste.



If successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the recruitment process.



The postholder will be working as part of the North East and Yorkshire School of Pharmacy. They will also work alongside other regional teams across England and with other relevant stakeholders across the system.



The main responsibilities of the role will include:



Programme leadership: Lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of post-registration pharmacist education and training, ensuring alignment with national policy and local workforce needs. Quality assurance: Oversee the quality and consistency of training and supervision. Stakeholder engagement: Build strong relationships with education providers, employers, and national networks to support collaborative working and share best practice. Educational supervision: Support and develop educational supervisors across sectors, facilitating networks and promoting multi-sector learning. Strategic development: Contribute to the School's strategic planning, policy development, and service improvement initiatives.
