Job Description

Strathmore College are recruiting for a qualified Psychologist to join our Therapy team. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and passionate people to become an integral part of our therapy team. The successful candidate will join our multi-disciplinary team, which may suit someone experienced in a special needs environment or newly qualified, who will be required to work closely with other therapists.

Strathmore College is an SEN college for students aged 19 to 25. What makes us different is that each of our learners work on a completely individual programme which is specifically structured to support them into employment and to gain an increased level of independence as they prepare for adulthood. Good links with employers enables learners to develop skills in the workplace to support their transition.



The Strathmore College building itself acts as a central hub from which a vast range of community-based learning takes place. Community-based learning is central to our ethos, with learners engaging in a lot of practical, hands-on activities and work-based learning.

Main responsibilities:



Conduct psychological assessments to identify students' learning, emotional, behavioural, and social needs. Develop and recommend tailored intervention strategies to support students with special educational needs (SEN), disabilities, or complex profiles. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff, to create and monitor individual support plans. Support staff through consultation, coaching, and training to help them understand and meet students' diverse needs effectively. Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes by providing psychological advice and input for statutory assessments and reviews. Monitor progress and evaluate interventions, adapting strategies to ensure they remain effective and student-centred. Facilitate student voice, ensuring that learners are included in planning and decision-making about their education and well-being. Work with families and carers to provide guidance, build partnerships, and support consistency between home and college. Provide crisis support or risk assessments in situations involving mental health concerns, behavioural incidents, or safeguarding. Promote emotional well-being and resilience, both individually and at the whole-college level, through evidence-based practices and programs. Stay current with relevant legislation, policies, and research, ensuring all work aligns with best practice and statutory requirements. Advise on inclusive practice and accessibility, supporting the development of a learning environment that meets a wide range of needs.
