About the Role:

We are looking for a

Self-Employed Portuguese Speaking Support Worker

to provide support to a young man in Blandford.

Flexible days / times: 3 x 2 hour sessions per week Monday - Friday (not Tuesdays) between 11-6pm.

The BCP Direct Payments Advice Service is a support service for individuals who are living independently within the community. We are not the person you will work for. You will work for the individual or family we are supporting.

Job purpose:

To assist with a variety of tasks which will help the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and help them achieve the outcomes identified in their care plan.

About the individual:

The client is a young Brazilian Portuguese man who needs support with household tasks and socialising. The aim is for the client to increase his independence and confidence with help of the support worker who will teach and support him with household tasks and routines and help him find social opportunities within the community.

He is an able-bodied man who has mental health conditions, which are medication controlled but they have hindered him in developing his independent living skills. He previously enjoyed playing football and billiard / snooker.

Hours of work: 3 x 2 hour sessions per week Monday - Friday (not Tuesdays) between 11-6pm.

Main duties

Social duties:

Support the client in identifying social opportunities and activities he might enjoy.

Help him plan the journey to access the opportunity / activity using public transport and/or his e-bike.

Support during the initial meetings until he's confident to attend by himself.

Converse in English as well as Portuguese to improve standard of English

Domestic duties:

Support with a timetable of household tasks

Prompt and teach the client to complete household tasks.

You would not clean for him but teach him / support him to clean his home independently.

These duties may vary from day-to-day.

Other Requirements

Essential: If self-employed, you must provide evidence of your self-employed status.

Provide evidence of self-employment such as Public Liability Insurance, Terms and Conditions, tax reference number.

DBS check will be required

Legally able to work in UK
