As we grow, we're looking for an experienced Finance Manager / Senior Bookkeeper to take charge of our financial operations and support strategic decision-making.
The Role
As our
Finance Manager / Senior Bookkeeper
, you will take ownership of the company's day-to-day financial management, ensuring accurate records, smooth reporting, and compliance across all areas. This is a hands-on role that combines bookkeeping with management accounts and cash flow oversight, offering the opportunity to work closely with the directors in a flexible, part-time capacity.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records across multiple companies
Maintain statutory records at companies house
Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and budget reports
Manage account payments and sales invoices
Generate weekly pay runs
Payroll processing, including statutory pay and RTI submissions
Handle VAT returns, including reverse charge VAT and VAT postponement for EU transactions
Ensure full compliance with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) and HMRC regulations
Reconcile bank accounts, and supplier statements
Assist in year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants
Monitor project costs and assist in financial planning using project flow software (Trello)
About You
Minimum 5 years' experience in bookkeeping
Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, CIS, and VAT reverse charge rules
Proficiency in Xero accounting software and excel/word
AAT qualified or equivalent (ACCA/ICAEW part-qualified desirable)
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and HMRC
Support directors with financial strategy and reporting
Bonus Skills (Not Essential)
