We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in restaurant operations and a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes while ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are met. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and maki rolls, ensuring high quality and presentation standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
Assist in meal preparation by preparing ingredients such as rice, fish, and vegetables.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service periods.
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, assisting with ordering as needed.
Help train junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
Stay updated on current trends in sushi cuisine and incorporate new ideas into the menu.
Skills
Proven experience working in a restaurant kitchen, preferably as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques related to sushi preparation.
Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in meal presentation.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
A passion for culinary arts and willingness to learn new skills within the kitchen environment.
