To lead a group of staff at Seeconnell Private Village to support people who have learning disabilities and challenging behaviours to lead purposeful lives and to develop their skills and self-confidence, so that they can contribute to society and make a difference as individuals.
This post holder will work as part of the care team providing a high quality of care to the service users in Seeconnell Private Village, ensuring person-centred and holistic practice is maintained, using the following guideline;
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Care:
To provide care for residents as required while supporting optimal independence.
To review and re assess the resident's needs as required and communicate changes effectively to all appropriate personnel.
Document clearly and accurately in the residents care plans.
Facilitate and support residents in decision making. Promote choice and involvement.
Consistently apply non-aversive strategies developed in response to challenging behaviours, and contribute to the review and development of any new strategies.
Ensure all resident's medical needs are met in partnership with them and records completed accurately.
Following training and assessment order, process and administer medication in accordance with Company policies and procedures,
Demonstrate understanding of what to do in the case of a medical emergency,
Ensure that Clients' personal property and clothing is maintained to a high standard, and report any requirements to the Registered Manager.
Be aware of and understand all aspects of potential abuse ensuring that the resident's safety and well being is upheld at all times.
Maintain a professional and appropriate care worker / resident relationship at all times.
Encourage and enable Residents to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene.
Management and supervision of staff:
To allocate staff appropriately to each section of Seeconnell Private Village for the duration of the shift taking into consideration resident / staff ratio's and appropriate training.
Compile and review the off duty to ensure safe staffing allocated and that it remains within the agreed allocation for the home.
Direct Senior support workers and support workers and all other staff in their duties, ensuring that all required tasks are completed to the agreed standard.
Supervise care staff throughout the shift monitoring care delivered. Give effective feedback to staff as required.
Ensure that the care provided demonstrates a full understanding of learning disabilities and is in accordance with the agreed care plan.
Liaise with other agencies/professionals as necessary in partnership with the Registered Manager, documenting all conversations and agreed outcomes.
Maintain accurate and factual file notes for staff as required and forward to the Registered Manager.
Regularly provide supervision for support workers and all other staff.
Manage Staff Members' attendance, annual leave and absences in line with the Company's policies and procedures
Escalate appropriately any staffing difficulties to the Registered Manager
Participate in the homes Supervision & Appraisal processes.
Marketing, Training and Development:
1. Actively market Seeconnell Private Village by promoting a positive personal / professional profile within the local community ensuring the good reputation of Seeconnell Private Village at all times.
2. Assist the Registered Manager in the induction of new Staff Members and the provision of in - house training as delegated to do so.
3. Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
4. Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
5. Participate in relevant training to achieve required qualifications.
General:
Be responsible for the ordering, receipt and disposal of medication in line with Seeconnell Private Village Policy.
Be responsible for the changeover of medication each month in line with the cycle.
Maintain financial records in line with Company policies and procedures
Undertake any administrative tasks as required.
Contribute effectively to planned reviews of care standards and develop best practice at all times.
Implement and monitor compliance with standards lay down by The RQIA. Report urgently to the Registered Manager any concerns identified.
Maintain confidentiality of all information gained in the course of your work at all times.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
