We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide individualised support to students with special educational needs. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive learning environment and helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for supporting diverse learners.
Responsibilities
Have a proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and practice of the Academy and Trust.
Have an understanding of, and always act within, the relevant professional standards and statutory frameworks. This includes those relating to Health & Safety, security, confidentiality and data protection.
Implement and record progress for interventions to promote independence
Assist with personal care, feeding, and regulation during transitions and lunchtime.
Participate in ongoing training with teachers and other professionals, including:
-Makaton, PECS, and TEACCH
- Intensive Interaction
- Attention Autism
- ASD and sensory integration training (with online outreach support)
Contribute to planning meetings, provision mapping, and reviews of EHCP outcomes.
Establish productive working relationships with children, acting as a role model and setting high expectations for behaviour and learning.
Provide targeted support throughout the day, ensuring consistency, safety, and engagement across all activities through multisensory approaches.
To understand the required areas of learning, stages of development and assessment in order to support pupils' learning and progress.
To ensure that parents/carers are welcomed, involved and regularly informed of each child's activities.
The post requires working with young children, including bending, kneeling and crouching for periods of time. It may also involve occasionally lifting or holding children during planned activities and also may include cleaning bodily fluids as well as toileting duties. In Early Years, a significant amount of time will be spent outside as part of continuous provision.

This is a term time only role working 9am to 2pm Monday to Friday during term times only.
