A welcoming primary school is looking for a thoughtful and engaging 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a KS2 pupil with global developmental delay, currently working at a KS1 level. About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity to support a child who thrives with clear routines, a hands-on approach and gentle encouragement. Working closely with the class teacher, you'll help deliver a bespoke, accessible learning experience tailored to the pupil's stage of development. Your role will involve:
Providing calm, patient 1:1 support throughout the school day
Using creative and practical strategies to keep learning engaging and meaningful
Supporting communication, independence and confidence in the classroom
Encouraging social interaction and peer inclusion at the child's pace
Collaborating with the teacher and SENCO to follow an adapted curriculum plan
Offering consistent encouragement and care to help the child feel secure
Who We're Looking For
This role is suited to someone with experience in SEND, care, or support work, particularly with pupils who need differentiated teaching and nurturing support. A good sense of humour, creativity and a calm, encouraging presence are essential. You should be:
Adaptable and responsive to the needs of the individual child
Compassionate, consistent and emotionally attuned
Confident in supporting pupils working below age-related expectations
Experienced in SEND, EYFS or 1:1 support roles (or able to demonstrate transferable skills from care or similar settings)
A team player who communicates well with staff and families

Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 1.00pm - 3.00pm
Friday: 9.00am - 3.00pm

If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
