Job Description

The Youth Education Service are working in partnership with a dedicated Autism school in Southport, striving to create a learning culture that nurtures the social, emotional, and academic development of students. The school is a specialist provision which caters for students with a primary diagnosis of Autism from age 11 through to 19. All of the students have an EHCP which identifies Autism as their primary need.

Due to an increase in student numbers, we are seeking to appoint a number of Teaching Assistants who are willing to go the "extra mile" in supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.

Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, candidates who possess the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

The Teaching Assistant will:



Work 2:1 with a Year 10 pupil who is following a specialised timetable The pupil has experienced significant trauma so needs someone who is nurturing Establish effective working relationships with professional colleagues and be a very enthusiastic team player. Play a full part in the life of the school community, support its aims and ethos and encourage staff and students to follow this example. Promote the school's policies, comply with the school's Health and Safety policy and undertake risk assessments as appropriate. Take responsibility for their own professional development and to keep up to date with advice and guidance, as provided by the school and Food for Thought Set a good example to all students in their presentation and their personal conduct. Adhere to the school's Code of Conduct.

You must have:



You will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with children, particularly those with social, emotional and / or mental health issues.

A background in education is not a necessity but you may have experience working with children, ideally those with challenging behaviour, Autism, ADHD, Asperger's, mental health issues and / or social and emotional issues.

You will have knowledge of safeguarding young people and a willingness to undertake additional and on-going training and personal development.

You will be an excellent team player with a positive and resilient nature who likes to see and get the best out of young people.

Hours: 08:30 - 15:30
