Support, Educate and Nurture
We are looking for a Primary Teaching Assistant for an immediate start, to work in a primary in the Workington area. The position is to support a pupil with Autism during class and assisting the teacher in lessons, designed to the pupil's ability at KS1. The role is to work in a small nurturing community based primary. Working hours are 8:30 - 3:30
The role
Support a pupil 1:1 with Autism within class and 1:1 nurture sessions
To create a safe learning environment for a pupil with Autism in a mainstream school.
Support the teacher in delivering lessons and reporting on the pupils development.
communicate regularly and support third party suppliers such as Autism specialist Speech and Language specialists.
Use alternative communication methods such as PECS and MAKATON
The ideal person for the role
Will have an understanding of Autism.
Passionate about helping young people.
A great communicator and written skills.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. we undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
