Metricell is growing and we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a 1st / 2nd Line IT Technician to join our IT department. You will work closely with our IT Engineers to help support the delivery, support and maintenance of our infrastructure and business application teams whilst proactively seeking new opportunities for digital transformation that support our ambition to work efficiently and effectively so we can focus on meeting the needs of the business.

The role requires you to work as part of an enthusiastic and tech-driven team to deliver the IT strategy plan, ensuring this is aligned to the current business priorities and the long-term business needs. Ultimately, helping the organisation be fully supported with the right IT infrastructure and systems while remaining hands on.

This role is ideal for someone who has previous IT experience and looking to progress to the next level and be exposed to new and exciting technology. Applicants must be passionate about IT and enjoy exploring and resolving a complexity of different challenges.

Your day to day responsibilities include:

  • Receiving and logging technical support requests from end-users via phone, email, or in-person into our ticketing system.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all support requests and outcomes in our ticketing system.
  • Management of ticket triaging through our ticketing system and escalating IT issues to appropriate staff as required.
  • Day to day monitoring and maintenance of internal infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Resolving issues raised by monitoring tools or escalating as required.
  • Providing first-line technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues on a range of devices including desktops, laptops, and servers.
  • Maintaining hardware and software inventory and ensuring licenses are up to date.
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Providing basic training and support to end-users on how to use hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Undertaking small-to medium-sized IT projects.
  • Ensuring security and upgrades are applied to keep desktops and laptops up to date.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of centralized logging solutions.
  • Completing internal user hardware moves including networking and patching.
  • Ensuring all logs for equipment and users are maintained.
  • Installation and configuration of new servers.
  • Installation and configuration of authorised software onto servers.
  • Ensuring patches and upgrades are applied to servers.
  • Creating purchase requisitions for IT hardware/software.
  • Exchange server mailbox maintenance including archiving mailboxes.
  • Setting up new users and disabling expired accounts in accordance with HR requirements.
  • Migrating servers and software installations as required.
  • Creating and configuring VMware/Hyper-V virtual machines.
  • Assisting team members with network design and support.
We require you to have:
  • Virtualisation (VMWare 6.7 / 7 / 8, Hyper-V)
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, firewalls, etc.)
  • Experience managing Windows Server environments (PowerShell, common roles).
  • Excellent understanding of IT architectures, infrastructures and business processes, and the ability to interpret these into innovative system solutions to meet business needs.
  • Great Interpersonal and people skills with the ability to deal with internal/external customers and IT suppliers/partners at all levels.
  • Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Windows 10/11 configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience administering an on-premises Active Directory environment and associated technologies (e.g., Group Policy, DNS)
  • Able to demonstrate a \xe2\x80\x98Can Do\xe2\x80\x99 attitude being willing to go the \xe2\x80\x98extra mile\xe2\x80\x99.
  • Able to communicate well with customers and colleagues being able to lead and motivate by example.
  • Able to work under pressure and on own initiative.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication to all levels of the business.
  • Kept abreast of new and emerging technologies.
  • Applicant should already have legal right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
  • Containerisation and orchestration management (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Microsoft SQL Server installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of web technologies and protocols.
  • Linux Server administration.
  • Knowledge of backup applications (e.g., Veeam).
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring solutions (e.g., Zabbix).
  • Experience with application monitoring solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience with log management solutions (e.g., ELK).
  • Experience managing IIS web servers.
  • Experience managing hybrid-Azure Active Directory environments.
  • AWS\\Azure cloud accreditation.
  • Security based approach
  • Experience managing Office 365, SharePoint environments.
  • Knowledge and experience of server hardware
  • Knowledge and experience of networking; firewalls, switches, routers
