Caretaker with Security Responsibilities

to join our Estates team.

About the Role:

You'll play a key role in ensuring the safety, security, and upkeep of our Peterlee campus. From opening and securing buildings to carrying out routine maintenance and responding to emergencies, this is a varied and rewarding position. Duties include:

Acting as primary keyholder and monitoring CCTV/alarm systems. Conducting security patrols and responding to incidents. Performing minor repairs, general maintenance, and supporting room setups. Maintaining grounds and external areas, including seasonal tasks. Supporting health & safety compliance and emergency procedures.

Essential Requirements:

SIA licence (or willingness to obtain). GCSE standard education (Maths & English). Willingness to undertake First Aid training. Experience in caretaking, site management, or security. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings/weekends. Physically fit for manual handling and outdoor work. Awareness of Health & Safety and safeguarding principles.

Desirable:

Full UK driving licence and/or access to a vehicle. Knowledge of building maintenance and security operations.
