Job Introduction

East Durham College is seeking a skilled and passionate

Lecturer in Welding & Fabrication

to deliver high-quality teaching and assessment to a diverse range of learners. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking team and contribute to the development of future engineering professionals.

Key Responsibilities:



Deliver engaging and effective teaching in welding and fabrication. Design and develop course content aligned with industry standards. Assess student work and maintain accurate records in line with awarding body requirements. Support learners through interviews, guidance, and progression planning. Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. Organise work experience opportunities and participate in employer engagement. Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout teaching and learning.

Essential Requirements:



Minimum Level 3 qualification in welding and fabrication or related discipline. GCSE-level education (Maths & English or equivalent). Teaching qualification (Level 6 or above - Cert Ed/PGCE/DTLLS) or willingness to work towards. TAQA Assessor qualification or equivalent, or willingness to work towards. Experience teaching welding and fabrication to a range of learners (14-19+). Proven track record of delivering high-quality teaching. Knowledge of awarding body procedures and practices. Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and teach across a range of abilities. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively. Commitment to professionalism, safeguarding, and equality.

Desirable Attributes:



HNC/HND or equivalent in a related engineering discipline. IV Award. Working knowledge of the Further Education (FE) sector. Ability to monitor and analyse data effectively. Full UK Driving Licence and/or access to a vehicle.
