2nd Line IT Support Technician -- Sheffield

The Role



We're looking for an experienced 2nd Line Technician who loves variety and thrives in a fast paced, client focused environment. You'll be part of our friendly technical team, supporting a wide range of customers from small businesses to multi-site organisations in a variety of industries. You will be proficient in supporting clients across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid infrastructures.

This is a hands-on role where you'll split your time between remote support, project delivery, and onsite visits. No two days will be the same; one day you might be troubleshooting an Exchange issue, and the next you could be rolling out a new Wi-Fi network or helping with an Office 365 migration. If you want to do one job for the rest of your life, this is not the job for you!

Your Responsibilities



Your day-to-day will include:

Providing 2nd line technical support via phone, email, and remote tools. Escalating complex issues to 3rd line or vendors when needed and following through to resolution. Delivering project work such as: Microsoft 365 and Azure migrations. Network installations and upgrades (switches, routers, firewalls, Wi-Fi) Exclaimer configurations Software Upgrades (various vendors) PC, server, and peripheral rollouts Backup and disaster recovery implementations Visiting client sites for: Scheduled maintenance and health checks Hardware installations and troubleshooting Building strong, friendly relationships with end users Monitoring and maintaining client systems using RMM tools Act as Team Leader during holidays or Absence. Keeping accurate and detailed documentation in our PSA. Identifying recurring issues and suggesting improvements to reduce ticket volume. Assisting 1st Line Technicians with escalation support. Assisting 1st Line and Apprentices with training and mentoring support where required. Learning the Daffodil Values to the best of your ability. Representing Daffodil Group in person and over the phone to a high professional standard on a daily basis.

What You'll Bring



Proven experience in a 2nd Line IT Support or Service Desk role (MSP experience a big plus). Confident working with technologies such as: Microsoft 365 / Azure AD / Intune Windows Server (2012-2022) & Active Directory Networking (VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, switches, access points) Backup solutions and licencing (e.g. On-site, Datto, AWS) Virtualisation (Hyper-V / VMware) ConnectWise PSA (preferable but not essential) Ninja RMM Configuration (Server RAID, PC setup, Design software - specialised software used by our clients) Excellent Documentation skills. Excellent troubleshooting skills and a logical, proactive approach. Full clean driving licence (UK) and willingness to travel to client sites around the UK. Strong communication and customer service skills - you enjoy talking to people as much as fixing their tech!
