Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Van Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods to various locations while ensuring the safe and timely delivery of products. This role requires excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of vehicle operation and maintenance. The Van Driver will also assist in warehouse duties as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of our operations.

Qualifications, Work Experience and Competence-Based Skills:

Full UK driving licence suitable for the van being driven (held for a minimum of 2 years).

Must be aged 25 or over for insurance reasons.

Experience in multi-drop delivery driving is preferred.

A forklift licence and training would be beneficial but not essential.

Experience handling heavy, long, or irregular-shaped items (such as metal bars and sheets) is desirable.

Key Competencies and Characteristics Required:

Ability to work independently, meet delivery deadlines, and solve problems while on the road.

Safe and competent driving skills with a good understanding of route planning and vehicle safety.

Awareness of correct manual handling techniques, especially when dealing with heavy or awkwardly shaped materials.

Willingness to assist the warehouse team when not driving, including learning to operate lifting or storage machinery.

Strong attention to detail for load checking and delivery paperwork accuracy.

Basic health and safety knowledge relevant to delivery and warehouse operations.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Safe and efficient delivery of

metal bars and sheets

, and other associated materials, to customers or between company branches.

Ensuring vehicle is roadworthy, clean, and compliant with company policy and UK road laws.

Contributing to safe handling and storage of metal stock within the warehouse when not on delivery.

Note: This reflects the key duties and responsibilities of the Van Driver role, particularly in relation to delivering metal products. As the company evolves, duties may change in line with business needs.

Pay: 25,396.80 per year
