We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will will be joining a highly trained, professional team with a reputation for accuracy, energy and exceptional customer experience. This is a high-pressure role where a solutions mindset, hard graft and positivity are the order of the day.
Duties
Operate a flatbed lorry to transport goods to various locations while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all items are secured properly for transport.
Maintain accurate delivery logs and records, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents during transit.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
Adhere to company policies regarding safety protocols and operational procedures.
Primary role
includes delivering and collecting Plant Hire & Tool Hire Equipment in 3.5T vehicle. You will be required to tow trailers with plant on too.
o Every day starts sharp at 6.30am with loading your own vehicle as requested by the Operations Manager. We aim to have all vehicles loaded and on the road by 7:30am at the latest to get goods safely to site as early as possible in the day.
o You will usually be required to onload and offload your vehicle by yourself
o Our delivery service covers the whole of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and North Essex.
o Cleaning and maintaining machinery and helping to put away equipment as requested by your Manager
Secondary role
is delivering Building Products, Steel Beams and Tool Hire equipment in a 3.5T vehicle.
Along with the above be prepared to do other duties as and when requested by your line manager including but not limited to, helping with picking and packing if back from your round early, and assisting other drivers with loading/unloading if required.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices for transporting goods.
Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with colleagues and clients.
A hard worker who gives attention to detail and takes pride in getting things right first time.
Must be able to work consistently and stay professional under high pressure.
Full Class 2 license is an advantage but not essential.
