The Company

We are a bespoke sheet metal manufacturer with 60 plus employees supporting the UK's Control Panel Industry. We specialise in switchboard steel work and busbar systems. The Role of Sheet Metal 3D Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced 3D Design Engineer to support the development and continuous improvement of our standard electrical enclosure product range. This role offers clear project direction and defined targets from the outset, enabling you to focus on delivering robust, manufacturable designs that meet industry standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings using

SolidWorks

. Design and develop sheet-metal based electrical enclosures and related components. Ensure all designs meet functional, safety, and manufacturing requirements. Work closely with production, quality, and sales teams to deliver accurate and efficient solutions. Contribute to the improvement and standardisation of Adams Enclosures' product offerings. Support design documentation, BOM creation, and revision control.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Strong proficiency in

SolidWorks 3D

design. Proven experience in

sheet metal design

, ideally within an enclosure or fabrication environment. Ability to work in a structured product development framework. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills. High attention to detail and commitment to accurate engineering documentation.

Beneficial Experience:

Experience with

electrical switchboard

or

MCC (Motor Control Centre)

enclosure design. Familiarity with electrical layouts, component mounting, and enclosure assembly. Understanding of fabrication processes including punching, folding, welding, and finishing.

Hours Of Work

Core working hours are Monday to Friday 7:30am - 16:00pm, overtime is required as and when to meet production needs.
