The Role
As a 5-Axis CNC Miller, you'll operate our advanced DMG Mori 5-axis machines to produce high-complexity, precision components for some of the world's most demanding industries. You'll work with challenging materials, tight tolerances, and sophisticated automation systems, playing a vital role in our 24/7 manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate DMG Mori 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Work with pallet automation systems for lights-out manufacturing
- Machine high-complexity components including motor housings, shafts, structural components, and precision assemblies
- Process materials including titanium, aluminium alloys, and stainless steels
- Perform tool changes, offset adjustments, and program prove-outs
Quality & Precision:
- Conduct first-off inspections using precision measuring equipment
- Maintain tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure component conformity
- Work to ISO 9001 standards (with AS9100 coming soon)
- Identify and report quality issues promptly
Problem-Solving & Optimisation:
- Troubleshoot machining issues and implement solutions
- Collaborate with programming team on toolpath optimisation
- Suggest process improvements to reduce cycle times and improve quality
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
Maintenance & Housekeeping:
- Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning
- Monitor tool wear and report tooling requirements
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment
- Support preventative maintenance schedules
Essential Requirements

Minimum 5+ years
experience operating 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Strong understanding of 5-axis machining principles and workholding
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and GD&T
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible to work overtime when required
Desirable Skills
- Experience in Aerospace, F1, Motorsport, or high-end Automotive manufacturing
- Familiarity with Openmind HyperMill or similar CAM software
- Experience with pallet automation systems
- Advanced CNC programming or editing skills (Siemens, Heidenhain, or Fanuc controls)
- Knowledge of cutting tool selection and optimisation
- Forklift or overhead crane certification
