The successful applicant will be expected to provide, maintain and develop services in the Regional Acquired Brain Injury Unit, on the Musgrave Park Hospital site. Experience in this area is an essential pre-requisite for the post. The post holder will provide rehabilitation liaison for the Regional Acquired Brain Injury Unit. The post holder will admit to beds in RABIU. There is a commitment to the provision of rehabilitation input into the acute hospitals within the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, for those persons requiring the specialist services provided by SCIU and if required ARU service. There are a total of five Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine on the Musgrave Park Hospital site with two based in RABIU, one in the Amputee Rehabilitation Unit (ARU), one in the Spinal Cord Injury Unit (SCIU) and a fifth based between ARU and SCIU. This is a new, and sixth, consultant post. There are 3 Specialty Doctors in Rehabilitation Medicine and 2 rotational training ST posts; the holders of these ST posts will rotate through rehabilitation services and related curriculum areas. Administrative support will be provided by existing and new (additional) medical secretarial support. The post holder will have an allocated office space and computer. The post-holder will be involved in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical, nursing and professions allied to medicine personnel. The post-holder will be expected to participate in Trust Research, Audit, and Quality Improvement activities.
