Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in commercial driving and delivery services, with a focus on safety and efficiency. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while ensuring timely deliveries.

Driving makes up approx. 60% of the role, the remaining time, you will be required as a general hand within the workshop team. Primarily using power tools to assemble components added to metal stillages. Training will be provided for this.

Duties

Operate various types of vehicles, including flatbed lorries, to transport goods safely and efficiently. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations. Navigate routes effectively to meet delivery schedules while maintaining a high level of customer service. Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents that may occur during transit. Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and management regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise. Perform basic mechanical checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.

Experience

Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is highly desirable. Valid commercial driving licence with appropriate endorsements for the vehicle type operated. Experience operating flatbed lorries is an advantage. Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics processes is beneficial. Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic maintenance checks on vehicles is preferred. Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members effectively.
