Job Description

- ABA Therapist

Job Purpose

To provide excellent ABA teaching to children and young people with ASD and associated

learning difficulties. To follow the principles of ABA to enable our clients to access learning

in a way that allows them to learn new skills at their own pace.

Specific Responsibilities:

- To conduct 1:1 intensive teaching sessions using ABA approaches.

- Provide 1:1 oversight in small group settings to enable child to engage with others.

- To attend and participate in review meetings and workshops.

- To ensure that salient pupil progress data is collected.

- To be responsible for regularly communicating data to ABA Supervisor/Consultant.

- Commitment to continuing professional development in ABA practice and theory,

knowledge of the curriculum including the National Curriculum and working with

children with autism.

- To undertake any necessary ABA training as required.

- Implementing programmes that have been written by a Consultant (BCBA).

- Assisting in preparing materials as directed

- Collecting regular data as recommended by the Consultant.

- Collate & summarise the data to send to the ABA consultant on an agreed schedule.

- To work as part of a team providing ABA instruction to children with ASD and related

communication disorders on an individual basis, in pairs or in small groups.

- To analyse clients' behaviour to allow for a function of the behaviour to be identified

and to deal with the behaviour where appropriate in a calm and professional

manner and in accordance with individual client behaviour plans and risk

assessments.

- To develop an understanding of assessments used that track pupil progress and

development of Individual Education Plans (ABLLS-R, VB- MAPP, AFLS, PEAK)

- To collect and record clear data on all programmes, including accurate analysis

and recording of sequence-analysis-data (Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence).

- To supervise indoor/outdoor playtime where required for clients and aid in social

interaction.

- To supervise and support children on activities and trips outside of the home,

e.g. swimming.

- To be responsible for the safeguarding and health and safety of clients', including

the maintaining of a safe environment, following and implementing relevant

policies and risk assessments as appropriate.

- To actively participate in team meetings, training and performance competencies on

a regular basis.

- To undertake appropriate professional development on a range of relevant issues as

agreed by management. To play an active role in own training and progression in

understanding and ability to apply the principles and procedures of ABA.

Additional/general

- Safeguarding the security, safety and wellbeing of clients' at all times in the home, in

school and out in the community reporting any concerns in accordance with the

Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

- To understand, adhere to and actively implement all the policies and procedures of

the Piece of Mind Therapies at all times

- To undertake additional tasks as directed by your supervisor

- To demonstrate an excellent record of attendance and punctuality.

- Undertaking any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the

nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as defined.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Salary: 21,000 - 27,000pa - Monday to Friday - Hours 37.5 per week (if full time) to start

asap on a permanent basis.

Qualifications

- ABA Tutoring: minimum 1 year (Required)

- MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis (Preferred)
