This role is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of multiple, concurrent projects within a strategically aligned portfolio. The Portfolio Project Manager provides structured delivery leadership while supervising project managers and ensuring delivery excellence across the programme landscape. Acting as a central coordination point, the role combines tactical oversight and strategic alignment with exemplary stakeholder engagement to safeguard project outcomes and portfolio integrity.

Portfolio Delivery & OversightLead the end-to-end execution of multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring strategic alignment and timely delivery
Oversee and guide project managers, ensuring consistency in governance, planning, execution, and reporting
Manage interdependencies and resource allocation across delivery streams within the portfolio
Maintain central oversight of performance metrics, milestones, risks, and delivery status across projects
Ensure integration of new initiatives into the existing portfolio framework with minimal disruption
Governance & Quality AssuranceChampion delivery standards, project governance frameworks, and gated review processes
Conduct regular health checks across the portfolio and escalate risks or delivery concerns with recommendations
Promote best practice in project management across the portfolio through coaching and mentorship
Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, and internal assurance requirements
Stakeholder Engagement & ReportingDevelop and maintain effective relationships with business units, technology teams, and senior leadership
Provide regular structured communications on project status, risks, decisions, and strategic implications
Act as the key liaison for stakeholder queries and portfolio-level governance forums
Ensure accurate and timely reporting that supports decision-making and strategic planning
Team Leadership & Capability DevelopmentSupervise and develop project managers and supporting delivery resources
Set clear objectives, assess performance, and promote a culture of continuous improvement
Align team capacity to delivery demands, maintaining flexibility for dynamic priorities
Financial Management & Commercial LiaisonWork closely with Finance and Procurement to manage project budgets and financial forecasts
Ensure expenditure aligns with project scope, delivery timelines, and audit requirements

What We Need From You
MSP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PgMP, or equivalent certifications
Demonstrable experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
Strong team leadership and line management experience, ideally within regulated environments
Expertise in stakeholder engagement, communication strategies, and executive reporting
Proficiency in project portfolio tools (e.g. Planview, MS Project, Jira, Power BI)
Background in insurance, reinsurance, or financial services preferred
