Within our university pathways division, the International Study Centre at the University of Cumbria provides a safe and friendly environment for growing numbers of students wishing to progress from our programmes to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University. We are looking for a Centre Administrator to join our expanding team at our centre in UoC's Lancaster campus, providing an excellent service to internal and external customers relating to a range of academic and administrative support functions.

In addition to carrying out a range of duties at a high level, the postholder will work as part of a team in a collaborative working environment, underpinned by key values:

Key accountabilities and duties



Be responsible for the delivery of high quality academic administration support to staff and students at our Centre;

Support the functions and processes associated with the effective and efficient delivery, monitoring and assessment of academic programmes to required quality standards;

Effective maintenance of student records, including enrolment, attendance, progression and grades, and development of systems and processes to optimise the efficiency of these processes;

Implement all aspects of enrolment, induction, assessment, examination, award and graduation processes in an accurate and timely manner;

Effectively liaise with colleagues in relation to the co-ordination and production of academic timetables and the availability and booking of teaching space;

Contribute to the provision and monitoring of pastoral and academic support which supports our students realise their potential, including the identification of areas which could be improved within these support structures and processes;

Liaise with Centre and University staff and other stakeholders on a wide range of academic and administrative support matters;

Provide timely and accurate management information, data, and reports

Attend and take minutes at meetings as required

Attend and reply to day-to-day students' and staff's enquiries

The flexibility and willingness to carry out other work from time to time at our request, and to work effectively under pressure at key times in the academic year.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:



Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from the UK

Proven experience of administration in a customer-focussed environment

Experience in assisting with the development and implementation of effective and efficient systems and processes

Effectiveness in building and maintaining excellent working relationships with colleagues and customers from a wide range of backgrounds

Very strong administrative skills, excellent written and spoken English, and attention to detail

Able to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure

Well-developed IT skills, particularly with regards to Microsoft Office and able to learn and accurately use new IT databases/systems at a fast pace

Time management skills demonstrated in a fast-paced environment

Effective working on your own initiative and as part of a team

Flexibility and willingness to undertake and learn new tasks and skills

Committed and responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young adults

Desirable



Prior work experience in an education setting

Prior understanding of the needs, sensitivities and aspirations of international students

Fluency in a second language
