Academic Advising Officer

Job Description

The Academic Advising Officer will be a key member of a collaborative team within Registry Services, working together to shape a unified and forward-looking approach to academic advising. While UG advising will be a central responsibility, the Officer will contribute to a broader team effort to develop and implement a new vision for advising that supports student success across the academic lifecycle. This includes ensuring that students understand University academic policies and procedures, are confident in using University IT systems, and are well prepared for academic progression. The Officer will work closely with colleagues to ensure accurate and timely registration, lead targeted retention initiatives, and support students facing academic challenges such as attendance issues, probation, or risk of dismissal. They will also coordinate outreach efforts to promote learning support services and lead communications to undergraduate students and relevant University staff and faculty.
The preferred candidates will be highly organised with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines. Confidence and competence with navigating new systems and processes is essential, and full training and support will be provided.
Richmond operates on a hybrid working model, and it is expected that the postholders will work on campus for three days per week, during term-time.
