The Role;



This is a Fixed Term, Term Time Only Position until December 2025



Salary: 27,171 - 28,864 per annum (

actual salary for term-time only, based on the full-time equivalent of 32,651 - 34,685

)

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated

Academic & Personal Support Tutor to join our student services team! On a Fixed term, Term Time only Basis until December 2025.

As Academic & Personal Support Tutor your role is to support students to reach their goals for academic success, personal development, develop employability skills and enable career progression. You will deliver personalised and small groups to learners needing intervention and support, as well as delivery of general group tutorial around wider themes such as Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, Safeguarding and PHSE.

To be part of the college safeguarding team and uphold and maintain positive student behaviours and attitudes by contributing to the regular reporting on at risk interventions and support basis along with upholding the highest standards in pastoral care. To supporting on improving low-level behaviour attitudes.

To carry out all associated duties in line with the School Quality Improvement; Key Performance Indicators and College strategic priorities from polices on College Tutoring, Behaviour for Learning and support of assessment standards tracking and monitoring.

Key responsibilities.



Provide targeted 1:1 and small group academic and personal support to learners. Deliver group tutorials on personal development, safeguarding, and employability topics. Work with teaching teams to identify and support "at risk" learners, raising aspirations and achievement. Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide holistic student support. Promote attendance, positive behaviour, and engagement in all study programme elements. Actively participate in safeguarding activities, ensuring the safety and welfare of all learners. Contribute to college events, including open days, parents' evenings, and induction programmes.

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.



Essential



GCSE (or equivalent) in English & Maths at grade C/4 or above (or Level 2 Functional Skills). Experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting. Strong understanding of safeguarding and protection of children and vulnerable adults. Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire learners from diverse backgrounds. Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, MS Teams, SharePoint, VLE systems). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable



Coaching, mentoring, or youth work qualification at Level 3 or above. Initial teaching qualification (e.g., Award in Education and Training). IAG Level 2 qualification. Experience of delivering group tutorials or workshops.

However, based on your qualifications and experience, we may offer a higher starting salary within the specified salary range.
