Job Description


Education Team is seeking a confident and diligent student to help administer the Academic Rep Project. This project works with student leaders to improve the educational experience of all students across the University, playing a vital role in making positive change. We\'re a small and friendly team in the SU looking to make a big impact.

This role assists in the maintenance of the Rep project through administrative processes, working closely with the Academic Representation Coordinator & VP Education to ensure the project is effective and meets its aims. Excellent written communication skills are essential. Competence with MS Suit (Word, Excel, etc) is highly desired - although gaps in knowledge here can be filled-in with training.

NOTE: This role is part-time, highly flexible, and may require some occasional evening working.

Preferred Start Date: 22nd of September 2023

Expected End Date: 22nd of December 2023

Interview Date: 21st of September 2023

Location: Hybrid; Remotely (in the UK) and on the Lancaster University campus

Hours Per Week: 7



Major Responsibilities:

  • The Rep project provides organisational and admin support to Reps from all departments at all levels of study.
  • The post holder will be required to help with the day-to-day running of the project, working closely with the VP Education and the Academic Representation Coordinator.
  • Use of Outlook, Word and Excel make up the majority of the work our Academic Rep Assistants undertake.

The successful candidate will be able to show:

Essential

Excellent Communication skills:
  • Good use of grammar, spelling and accurate conveyance of information
  • Able to gather information and give effective answers to queries in a clear and accurate manner
  • Able to assess the nature of a query and respond appropriately and effectively
  • Confident verbal communication
  • Knowledge and use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and E-learning software (such as Moodle or Blackboard)
  • Good organisational, time management skills, and problem-solving abilities
Desirable
  • Good working knowledge of the Students\' Union and University
  • Prior experience of the Academic Representative system at Lancaster University
