Job Description

Academic Tutor (Maths or English) - Bespoke Learning, part of Southern Education Trust

Teacher's Pay Scale (M1 - M3), plus Teacher's Pension Scheme

Full time, Term time only, Permanent contract

Please note: We're looking for multiple tutors to cover different areas including the Dorset, BCP, and New Forest areas. A full driving licence with business insurance and your own car is therefore essential.

About us:

We've been growing - a lot! In fact, our team has expanded so much that we're now looking for more brilliant people to join us in this brand new role. At Bespoke Learning (part of the Southern Education Trust), we design personalised learning programmes for young people who are currently unable to access school in the traditional way.

Our vision - Happiness in the Pursuit of Learning - is at the heart of everything we do. We combine academic learning with emotional development, helping students rebuild confidence, rediscover their love of learning, and take positive steps toward their future.

About the role:

As an Academic Tutor, you'll play a vital role in helping students re-engage with education. You'll work 1:1 with them in their homes or out in the community, providing personalised teaching and learning experiences that fit their individual needs and goals.

Every day is different. One day, you might be delivering a creative maths session in a student's home; the next, you're supporting them through a confidence-building project or helping them prepare to transition back into school or college. What stays the same is your commitment to helping each young person feel valued, capable, and motivated to learn again.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver tailored 1:1 learning sessions at home or in the community, helping students re-engage with education. Support academic progress in core subjects, particularly English and Maths (including functional skills and GCSE). Help students build confidence, self-esteem, and a positive attitude toward learning. Encourage attendance, perseverance, and motivation - even on challenging days. Monitor engagement and academic progress, keeping clear and accurate records. Work closely with families, schools, and the Bespoke Learning team to ensure consistent support. Develop and adapt strategies to overcome barriers to learning. Support transitions into school, college, or other next steps, ensuring students feel ready and supported. Always prioritise safeguarding, following Bespoke Learning's policies and procedures to keep students safe and well.

What we're looking for:

A passionate, empathetic, and resilient educator with a genuine drive to make a difference. A qualified teacher (QTS) with experience supporting young people who have additional needs, such as SEND, behavioural, emotional, or mental health challenges. Someone flexible, patient, and creative in their approach to learning. Excellent communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills. A full UK driving licence, access to a reliable vehicle, and business insurance (as travel is essential to the role). A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and helping every young person reach their full potential.
If you're a qualified teacher, fantastic - we'd love to hear from you. But if you've been working as an unqualified teacher or tutor and believe you have the skills, experience, and heart for this role, please get in touch with us at recruitment@deltaeducationtrust.com before applying with the details of your experience - we'd still like to hear your story.

Why join us?

The chance to transform lives, one student at a time. A supportive, values-driven team who will back you every step of the way. Opportunities to develop your skills and career with training and CPD. The joy of knowing your work truly matters.
