Role Purpose




To plan, deliver and assess the Level 3 BTEC in Sporting Excellence & Performance (SEP) qualification for West Ham United's Professional Development Phase players. The postholder will support the academic, vocational, and holistic development of scholars, helping them thrive both on and off the pitch while maintaining high standards of educational provision in line with Premier League and Awarding Organisation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:




Plan, deliver, and assess the in-house Level 3 BTEC in Sporting Excellence & Performance qualification for PDP scholars.


Support the successful completion of SEP Apprenticeship End-Point Assessments with a target of over 70% achievement.


Deliver compensatory education to support U15/U16 players in the Hybrid Training Model.


Maintain up-to-date records of learner progress and provide feedback to players and parents as part of the Premier League's 6-Week Review Cycle.


Comply with all internal verification procedures and provide evidence for external scrutiny from the Premier League and awarding bodies.


Support the organisation and administration of education programmes, including assessment plans, schemes of work, learner schedules, and individual learning plans.


Collaborate across all Academy departments to support the multi-disciplinary development of players.


Contribute to wider holistic development initiatives within the Education & Player Care department.

Standards



Macro (Annual):




Oversee the successful qualification completion of all PDP scholars.


Attend Premier League training events and ensure frameworks are delivered in line with national expectations.

Meso (8-Week Blocks):




Plan and deliver structured education cycles in line with curriculum frameworks.


Provide internal and external verification materials.


Liaise with Premier League staff and awarding organisations on programme reviews and audits.

Micro (Weekly):




Deliver engaging, tailored lessons in the BTEC/SEP programme.


Monitor and record scholar progress on a weekly basis.


Assist with other educational duties across the Academy provision.


Ensure excellent administrative standards and cross-departmental communication.

Safe to Operate Responsibilities




Promote the safety and wellbeing of all young people and adults at risk involved in club activities, upholding a proactive safeguarding culture.


Report safeguarding concerns using the Club's procedures and record them using CPOMS within 24 hours.


Adhere to Club safeguarding, welfare, and equality policies to maintain a safe working environment.

Compliance Responsibilities




Engage in CPD and maintain qualifications in line with Premier League and FA standards.


Comply with all relevant policies and procedures including GDPR and data protection.


Record and update scholar data on the Performance Management Application (PMA) as required.

Requirements:

Person Specification:




QTS/QTLS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification (desirable).


Experience in teaching post-16 learners, preferably in sport or vocational education.


A deep understanding of the educational needs of elite youth athletes.


Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to track and report on learner progress.


A collaborative, enthusiastic mindset aligned with the values of The West Ham Way.
