About Stockport County



Founded in 1883, Stockport County are one of the country's longest established football clubs. Initially formed as Heaton Norris Rovers, the Club officially became Stockport County in 1890 after the County Borough of Stockport and have been based at Edgeley Park since 1902.

The team currently competes in Sky Bet League One, the third tier of the English Football League, after winning the 2023-24 Sky Bet League Two title.

Role Overview



We are seeking an enthusiastic

Academy Goal

to join our

Academy

team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing position specific development programs for goalkeepers in the Professional Development Phase (U18), together with designing and delivering training sessions throughout the week for goalkeepers within the academy and coaching goalkeepers on U18 match days.

Key Responsibilities



Deliver coaching sessions across the whole pathway from U9-U18 and lead the U18 Goalkeeping development programme. Work from an aligned and periodised coaching curriculum that is constantly under review and support the creation and review of such a curriculum. Create and maintain IDPs for the respective goalkeepers, updating them regularly, based on performance and progression, conduct mid-year and end-of-year reviews with players and parents, providing comprehensive feedback on strengths, areas for improvement, and next steps. Managing U18 work experience loan opportunities, as requested by the Academy Head of Goalkeeping and attending fixtures where possible. Support the Academy Goalkeeping Staff and recruitment staff with identifying potential goalkeepers, participate in talent identification events, such as goalkeeper camps or recruitment sessions, and provide input on trialist evaluations. Coach &/or support all multi-disciplinary activities at the PDP phase. To attend meetings as directed by the Academy Head of Goalkeeping, Head of Coaching and Phase Leads. To attend at least 5 hours of in-service training annually, which the FA will provide. Flexible approach and prepared to work day times, evenings and weekends. Always maintain honesty and integrity when working with all young players and staff at the Club. Communicate and promote the club's culture therefore creating a positive environment for the development of young players and people. Always monitor the wellbeing of the players.

Essential



Combination of specialist goalkeeping and broader football coaching knowledge, understanding and skills. Good knowledge of the age-appropriate techniques and skill practices for player development. Excellent planning and organisational skills. Knowledge of the football recruitment process. Coaching experience in a professional academy, all Foundation, Youth and Professional Development Phases Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to use a variety of communication tools (verbal, written, digital) Strong organisational and administrative skills IT skills to include the ability to use performance analysis software and Microsoft office UEFA Goalkeeping B License UEFA B License Emergency First Aid in Football (Level 2) Safeguarding Children Certificate

Important: The successful candidate will be on an SLA Agreement and will invoice the club monthly for work performed. This is not a contracted role.
