Job purpose



The role of the Academy Therapist is to provide emergency medical treatment to Academy players.


As a result, this role will contribute to the success and achievement of the academy programme. A


key component of this role is the ability strive for excellence to ensure that the optimal service is


provided for the academy players and the medical department. This role is responsible to Head of


Academy Performance Services.

Key responsibilities



To provide emergency medical treatment to Academy players to the best of their ability within the
confines of their scope of practice (dependent upon qualifications)
The role holder must ensure they are adequately equipped to fulfil the above duties and to ensure
that any medical equipment used is in good, safe working order. If equipment is not present, or is


not in working order, a full-time member of the medical staff must be informed immediately
To follow the instructions of senior staff and to ensure that they are present at all venues at the
agreed time
To assist other members of academy staff in safeguarding and always protecting the welfare of the
children



To maintain all qualifications certifying that they are up to date and that adequate qualifications
are held to undertake the duties being asked
To have a good understanding of all WWFC Emergency Action Plans and be confident in
implementing these plans should an emergency situation arise
Liaising with parents as required Reporting directly to the Schoolboy Physiotherapist Any other duties at the request of the Head Academy Physiotherapist and Schoolboy
Physiotherapist
Where required, complete the mandatory qualifications and relevant Continued Professional
Development requirements as required by the Elite Player Performance Plan and associated


governing bodies (The Football League, The Football Association)

Key relationships



To work alongside a team of Academy Therapists on a weekly basis (likely to only work on the same
evening/day as 2-3 other part-time medical staff).
At times to work alone - providing the sole medical cover for individual training sessions or games. To directly report to the full-time Academy Physiotherapist on a daily basis. Head of Academy Performance Services

Scope of role



Flexibility in this role is essential - ability to work irregular and unsocial hours as required. Work
may be subject to change with less than 24 hours' notice on occasions
You must cover both Academy home and away games and be prepared to travel Work will regularly be outside 'normal' working hours, in evenings, weekends and bank holidays You must attend all CPD/in-service training sessions organised throughout the season





























































PERSON SPECIFICATION

Good knowledge of the EPPP Premier League Guidelines and W.W.F.C. Club Philosophy

Experience with providing medical treatment in a sports related industry





Technical/work-based skills: skills specific to the job e.g. language competence, typing skills, coaching skills


etc

FA Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football Qualification


General skills and attributes: more general characteristics e.g. flexibility, communication skills, team working

FA Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football Qualification


This position is subject to a satisfactory DBS check. The successful candidate must have a clear and


appropriate DBS certificate in place prior to commencing employment, in line with our Safeguarding


obligations
